aluDOOR wins German Innovation Award
German Innovation Award for Rolec’s aluDOOR aluminium enclosure
"Sophisticated design from a single mould" and "high added value for users".
The German Innovation Award was awarded to Rolec's latest aluminium enclosure aluDOOR on 23 May 2023 in the category Excellence in Business to Business / Electronic Technologies.
"The jury of the German Innovation Award, the German Design Council, thus recognised the design and especially the technical quality of aluDOOR. We have been developing and producing industrial enclosures for decades, and now we have succeeded in creating a product that can officially carry the title 'Innovation'. We are very pleased and honoured by this", says Matthias Rose, Managing Director of Rolec in Rinteln.
"Unprecedented design" for innovative industrial electronics
In 2018, the German Innovation Award was presented for the first time - with the aim of honouring the special added value, the small details or new solutions of small companies as well as corporations and thus increasing the competitiveness of German companies. About the award-winning Rolec product, the jury says: "'aluDOOR' enclosures have an unprecedented design. They are the contemporary 'packaging' for innovative industrial electronics. For the first time, a real hinge has been integrated. Stainless steel screws and stainless steel threaded bushes guarantee a corrosion-free closure."
The aluDOOR system was developed under the direction of Bernd von der Lippe, a graduate engineer (FH) who is responsible for the design at Rolec: "The technically relevant features, with high added value for users, include the fully integrated hinge and certification for protection classes IP 66, IP 67 and IP 69K – and now also according to IP 68. Thus, the industrial enclosure is suitable for submersion to a water depth of 1.2 metres for up to 2 hours. We designed aluDOOR to meet specific customer requirements and presented it for the first time in spring 2022. The housing is already successfully in use in a wide range of industries."
According to Rolec, in addition to the high functionality, the unique and sophisticated appearance "from a single mould" is another key feature of aluDOOR. Industrial designer Christian Förg from Moving-Products put the finishing touches to the design of the enclosure. So Christian Förg and Bernd von der Lippe accepted the German Innovation Award together for Rolec.
Two lid variants, ten different sizes
The aluDOOR range is available in two basic variants: the aluDOOR ADF enclosures have a recess in the lid to accommodate membrane keyboards and touch applications. The lid of the aluDOOR ADO variants, on the other hand, is flat and can be printed with a company logo etc. according to the wishes and requirements of the client.
Both variants have two fastening channels - one for the cover and another for fastening the enclosure to the machine body. The enclosure can thus be mounted in a closed state. Both aluDOOR series are available in ten different sizes each - with a range from 120 x 90 x 70 mm to 280 x 170 x 90 mm.
Thanks to an opening angle of 100 degrees, the inside of the enclosure is easily accessible. The mounting and assembly screws are covered by snap-on aluminium design trims, which come in matt silver or anthracite as standard, but can also be customised on request - just like the enclosures themselves - in all RAL colours.
